YFL: Open up the fresh fall air with Nadi Shodina

This season brings some of the freshest air we experience in Vermont. The humidity wanes and, like the autumn apples, the air grows both cooler and crisper. Fall is an ending of sorts. The long days of summer are over and many settle into a routine of school and work. We begin to spend more time inside.

In Vermont, this is one of my favorite seasons for both hiking and swimming. I especially love hiking up a mountain and doing pranayama, or breathing exercises, at the top. The air feels so good against my lungs and I appreciate each sip in and then out. I recommend nadi shodina particularly this time of year. Not only does it help to balance our emotions and energy, but it also cleans out the nasal passages allowing us to take in more of the fresh, fall air.
