Announcing…..Snowga

We had our first snowfall of the season in Underhill this morning.  Funny, because I have spent the last couple of days planning snowga, the annual yoga and snowshoeing retreat in New Hampshire’s White Mountains.  I wasn’t sure I was going to do it this winter but when I called the lodge and they told me that Martin Luther King weekend was available, I had to book it.  What could be a better weekend to practice non-violence and love towards ourselves.
Krishnamurti wrote that in order to create peace in the world, you must first create peace in your own mind.  How true I have found this to be.  When I feel at peace, I have so much more tolerance and love towards others.  When I am agitated, everyone agitates me.  The idea around snowga is to create a space where we can settle from the craziness of life, get to know our minds more deeply, feel at home in our bodies, and relish the beauty found in nature.
This retreat has an option of both two or three nights.  Although I realize that it’s easier for most people to get away for only two nights, I highly recommend staying three if you can.  After two nights you just begin to arrive.  With three you can move more deeply into your practice and your self.  Getting away from the responsibilities and habits of home provides a space where you can see more clearly and through this clear seeing, take a fresh perspective on your life.  Plus, if you stay for a third night I will offer you a complimentary cd of a led yoga class.  All the more we can do to create peace in our minds, and ultimately, the world.
