One of the benefits of a body based practice is that you begin to notice that different emotions and thoughts generate different feelings in the body. When you notice the mind tight, the body is likely tight also. This noticing offers a great resource. Once you know what gripping feels like, when you consciously notice yourself gripping, you have a choice. You could stay with it and it will likely change, you could grip harder, or you can use techniques to bring in more space and ease. This technique is a great way to open space in the chest and throat at times when you notice gripping or holding.
